THE 'CAN I MAKE SCANDINAVIAN POSTERS WORK IN MY FLAT?' CHALLENGE

Scandi stuff is like, everywhere at the moment. I can't quite get down with that minimalism just yet. However, what I can get down with is really well made and great looking affordable stuff for our homes. Desenio deliver just that AAAAND *gasp* Scandi style posters that I'm actually pretty impressed with.

But could I make them work in my eclectic style flat?

ARTY FARTY: HOW THIS YEAR'S TURNER PRIZE WENT ALL SOCIAL MEDIA FRIENDLY

As a blogger you never know what delving into your inbox is going to hold each day. Opportunities can come thick and fast, and I was well chuffed (British way of saying 'very happy') that I got a press preview invite to experience the nominations for the highly contended Turner Prize. Basically, if you don't know what the Turner prize is (and I didn't until a few years back) it's basically a big f*cking deal in the British art world. Previous nominated artists have included Grayson Perry, Gilbert & George, Tracy Emin, Lucian Freud and Damien Hirst. But this year it had a difference: the Turner prize suddenly embraced social media.

VIDEO: AN EASY 5 MINUTE ABSTRACT ARTWORK TUTORIAL

Yo! If you're anything like me then art makes up a big part of your home. Alongside all of the up and coming artists that I love to invest in, it's also fun to create your own abstract pieces. You can see I did one a few months back which was inspired by Franz Klein.  You may have seen I've been doing a series of videos with Swiftcover and here's another in the series where I'm showing you how you can create a two tone metallic canvas in just a few minutes (well, allow a bit of drying time too!)

ART PRINTS FROM INSTAGRAM'S BEST PHOTOGRAPHERS

Some of the photography on instagram is absolutely amazing, don't you agree? It's my go to place for inspiration. It really bugs me when people overlook insta photographers for their artwork - just because it's taken on a phone doesn't make it any less captivating! Sometimes even more so. I love how people have turned the daily routine of snapping stuff on your phone and turned it into a true art form, and now a company called  Post Collective are turning instagram photographers into artists in their own right.

LEARNING HOW TO SCREEN PRINT WITH DANIEL HEATH

Ever thought about how those intricate patterns and prints are made? Or wondered why screen printing is like, so 'in' right now? Or why it costs more than digital printing? Well, because I'm really cool (?!) these kind of questions do enter my mind pretty often. And, I do love a bit of paint-jobby fun so when new social platform In The Window asked if I wanted to come along and learn how to screen print from the master of Art Deco wallpaper himself Daniel Heath, I kindly obliged. I'd seen Dan's work at both the Dulux installation that I worked on and at Decorex during LDF and was really impressed.

A CUP OF TEA WITH: STEPHANIE K KANE, ARTIST

Recently I discovered a brand new art gallery in Croydon. Ok this might not sound like a big deal but when you have lived in Croydon your whole life and seldom seen ANY form of cultural stimulation then believe me, this is a pretty big deal! As I wondered around admiring works at Rise Gallery from artists like Banksy, Dan Cimmerman, Mark Petty and more, I was drawn to a beautiful oil portrait of a young blonde girl. The colours immediately resonated with me, as did the portrait itself. I asked the girl working in the gallery who the artist was and she excitedly said 'That's my piece!' Meet Stephanie K Kane - distinct style, infectious cuteness and an enchanting technique. In this interview we chat everything from feminism to being an 'art school drop out'.
