OFFICE MAKEOVER REVEAL! LAVENDER BLACK AND BRASS VIBES
You may have read a few weeks back that I was planning an office makeover. Well, I've finished it, and here are is the big reveal!
Just a quick reminder as to what it looked like before...
and here's what it looks like now!
So let me talk you through it!
FIXTURES AND FINISHES
The lavender paint colour is Dulux Heather Bloom 4, and the wallpaper on the ceiling which really gives this rooms its cool factor is from Feathr and called 'machair'.
I also got a tactile black toggle switch from Buster & Punch.
First off I was lucky enough to collaborate with Habitat on this post who kindly supplied me with the awesome large size Nic trestle table which I am using as our main desk. I knew we needed a large desk as at any time there could be up to three of us working in the room so I wanted something big enough but non-imposing. The glass helps the table to 'float' in the room and not visually be a distraction.
Habitat also supplied me with the two Copter office chairs which are upholstered with grey fabric. These chairs are super comfy and the perfect height for the desk. Don't you hate when chairs and tables aren't matched in height?! I'm such a sloucher so it's really important for me.
The white Fjalkinge storage unit is from Ikea. I chose white because I had strong black lines in the main furniture so wanted something a bit lighter. The unit features two pull out drawers that I use to hide away all of my stationary, fabric samples and backgrounds for still life shots.
For the main light source I used the Made.com Tangle light fitting, which was actually originally bought for my daughter Marley's room makeover (see that here) but it didn't end up working in her room as the drop was too long and we never got around to cutting it down. Lucky for me because it's perfect in the office!
I also called on Habitat for a Rafi floor lamp - it has a tiny footprint so great for small spaces and is a bargain at £35! Unfortunately they seem to be our of stock right now but stay tuned as it may come back or they might have something similar.
The Porcini lamp, also from Habitat, completes the look.
Oh and how could I forget! A little neon heart from Bag & Bones adds a little pop of neon to the room.
I also have my eye on this to add into the room later this year.
I worked with Desenio to pick out some prints and frames to start a gallery wall. Luckily for you guys they're also offering readers of this blog 25% off posters (except handpicked/frames), between 16th – 18th May. All you need to do is enter 'SARAHAKWISOMBE' at checkout!
Here are the posters I chose...
I stuck all of these up using my trusty Command strips, which allow you to hang artwork without the risk of it ruining your walls. They also have some really clever spring clips which I used to hang some of the polaroids. These are really useful in the office because I can swap out samples / paperwork or whatever I need nearby me at the time.
I also put up some of my postcard collection around the room. I wanted the space to have a scrapbook-y feel and be something I can add or take away from as I see fit each month.
It's quite a small room so I didn't really go crazy on the accessories, just a few bits here and there to make the room feel less office-y!
These storage boxes from the Kit Neale x Ikea collab were a perfect fit for paint pots, spray cans and other random bits and bobs, and the gold filing boxes from Habitat help me to keep my endless stack of interiors magazines (that I never, ever have the time to read yet still keep ordering?!) put away neatly.
I was also sent this cool monochrome Geometric cushion from Evermade alongside some notebooks.
Moxon also sent me these wicked goal setting and progress journals form migoals... I really am so lucky to receive all these cool gifts you know, I don't take it for granted!
Also a few extra bits on the desk jazzed it up!
It's been so nice working in the space so far and it definitely makes a HUGE difference getting out of the house and having and 'end' to my work day (though it's not unusual to find me still editing pictures or working on something till 11pm but I'm trying to cut it down!)
I think I've shown you pretty much every angle and accessory in the room but if there is anything I've missed or. you have questions about the space please do feel free to leave a comment below or drop me a line on my instagram.
Much love and hope you enjoyed this office makeover reveal!
