A POLKA DOT TEASET PARTY
Last weekend my awesome little bro said his goodbyes as he headed off to South America for 6 months. Waaaah! Of course I had to throw him a little going away party in the most British way possible... high tea darling! With a helping hand from Bombay Duck who provided me with the most gorgeous polka dot tea set, it was an afternoon to remember. Here's how it went down...
I set the table and took a few snaps before the entourage turned up. My bro, hubby, sister, her boyfriend, my mum, my dad, my dads wife and his two twins. Oh plus Ralph (My 3 year old nephew) and my daughter Marley.
I fell in love with this Loulou polka dot tea set from Bombay Duck when I first saw the teacups. Black and white polka with a bit of gold detailing? Me all over really innit!
My sister baked a lovely lemon drizzle loaf. I told her to make it yummy but most importantly GOOD TO TAKE PHOTOS OF. Considering the last one she made she dropped on the floor when trying to take a picture for instagram, she probably got sick of me texting her saying 'don't drop it', but hey, it turned up in one piece, and it was buff.
I made a tray of luxury sandwiches: Smoked salmon and cream cheese, cucumber, homemade egg mayonnaise, ham and mustard mayo... oh and marmite for the kids ;)
The beautiful sugar pink gift boxes that the tea set came in ended up being perfect for displaying my spread of sarnies! I tried to cut them all evenly but quite frankly... who can be arsed?!
Here were my 'staged' sandwiches. Of course my brother walked straight in, hungover, and stuffed them into his mouth whilst I was midway through taking a photo. I let him off, because he was going away. Waaaaah! (I won't cry again).
Then things got really good when mum brought over her batch of freshly baked scones... YES! Finished off with a good lump of clotted cream, of course.
I tried to get some of those oh-so-cool over the head shots.
Ralph stuck his hand in every time I snapped. See a recurring theme here? My family trying to disrupt my perfectness!
Got my eye on you, mate.
After all that snapping it was time to start! First things first...
Time to get stuck into those scones.
My little bro Will with my mum (in between moments of her sobbing)...
Me and my lovely hubby...
Will giving Marley some last cuddles...
And the my beautifully styled table quickly descended into a mess. The sign of a good time if you ask me :)
There was just a little time left to take some silly family pics and send Will on his way. I'll miss that boy!
Thanks to Bombay Duck who so kindly gifted me the LouLou polka dot tea set. Without it this party would've been seriously less stylish! Have you checked them out yet? Perfect for cute and colourful gifts, plus their gift boxing is divine. More on that soon as I'm DIY-ing some of their boxes into cute dressing table storage for a client.
