INTRO TO: ANN GETTY
I love researching interior designers and learning about their style, especially when it's close to my own, and there's nothing more I love than the intricate, over the top styling of palacial residences. It's by no means something that can work in an everyday home, but it's so fun to indulge in the idea of such a lavish lifestyle sometimes. Ok I mean let's not be coy here, it's fun to indulge in the idea of a lavish lifestyle ALL THE TIME.
Ann Getty embodies everything I love, eccentric, eclectic, off the wall, wacky interior styling with a really big dash of opulence. Of course she has an antique crushed velvet chaise longue in her pool room. OF COURSE SHE DOES. Apparently she also let's her grandchildren mess around next to antiques worth thousands. Ann, you are so cool, can we be friends? I hope I am just like you one day.
Some see her interior work as gaudy (and let's be honest, some really is), but it's that tongue in cheek style that I really enjoy. I think her interiors are fun and little sarcastic, whether or not that is her intention. I find her inspiring as she knows her own style and will only take on a select few clients who want to achieve the same aesthetic. However, Getty's work isn't always so full on, and some of her more stripped back works for other clients can be seen in this great article by 1st dibs.
Ann has a book out which shows off her elaborate and unique taste, simply titled 'Ann Getty, interior style', available from Amazon at £35, and I'll be picking this one up for my own enjoyment. Harper's Bazaar magazine also did a great editorial piece of Ann which you can read here.
Here's a few images to show Ann Getty's brilliant style (and what my future mansion will look like, just so you know).
ahhh I'm fawning people. I'm fawning. Ann Getty love.
