The Importance Of Motivational Imagery
Friday, October 21, 2011 at 10:03AM For me, the key to staying on track, keeping a positive attitude and actually believing you can be successful all comes down to one thing. MOTIVATION!
Motivation can come to you in the strangest of moments and the most unexpected of times. It may be something you read, see or experience. In the past I've gone through some pretty shitty times where I've felt like the world is ending, but almost like magic, the next day I would come back stronger and more motivated than ever. I would make list and start doing things straight away (this is for another blog post althogether, the power of taking action RIGHT NOW).
I have a statement that I have written about what my major purpose in life is, and what I am setting out to achieve through all of this business malarkey. Doing this is fantastic (and again, for another blog post) but there is nothing that keeps you on track daily such as imagery. Small little pieces of inspiration that motivate you to work that tad harder. It might be a photo of you and your family on holiday, a car that you wish you had, a woman that inspires you or your dream house. These things don't need to be purely material, and shouldn't be! I might have a picture of my dream house or interior but for me it symbolises a lot more. It makes me think of my future family living happily in the space and what our daily life would be like. However, if a picture of that brand new designer handbag or car gets you taking action today then that is not a bad thing at all. We are all allowed materialistic wants (we do live in 2011 for gods sake) but please just keep what is most important to you in the long run as the pushing factor behind all of this.
So, with that in mind, here are some of the images that are currently inspiring me.

The gold desk and lamp I saw at an interior deisgn exhibition. I loved them as pieces but it made me think about me having a home office and what I'd furnish it like if money wasn't an issue. The gold desk suggested power and strength, and the lamp that looks like a palm tree was just fun! I know I want to work from home in the future so thinking about my perfect home office makes it more inspiring. The crazy blue wardrobe was at the V&A museum and I loved it instantly. This inspired me as being successful means I can express my personality and individuality through my home without worrying about the cost.

I'm sure you are beginning to sense a theme here! Most of my motivation comes from home, and what my perfect home will be. It represents so much to me, happy family, beautiful living space and overall, a house big enough that if for some reason all of my family didn't have anywhere to live they could stay with me :)
I also LOVE LONDON and wouldn't want to live anywhere else in the world. However, I know how hard it is to live in London (especially in the area I would like to) so I know I must keep on track and work hard to get there. I don't want to be living in Croydon all of my life. I think the house pictured there is one of Tony Blairs houses. One day I'll buy it off him.
This picture for me represents good times. I want to be able to treat my friends to meals out and fun trips. I love buying people presents and treating people, but it's hard to do when you're worrying about the next bill that's coming. I want to be able to give them great experiences or surprises when it's their birthday and make them feel special. I want to be able to spend time with my friends when I want to, not when money permits me to.

This is Bora Bora and is my ultimate dream holiday destination. I want to be able to choose when and where I go on holiday. I want to be able to take people who might not be able to afford it. I want to see the world and when I have a family I want my kids to see the world and be educated about different upbringings and cultures.

Last of all, this is my family. I want to be able to spend as much time with them as possible. I don't want to be working a 9-5 and only be able to see them on evening and weekends. I want to enjoy the time we have to mess around and do stupid fun things while we are young enough to do so. I want to treat my mum and dad and look after them like they have looked after us for so long. I want to spend lots of time with my sister's son Ralph so he feels close to me when he's older. Overall, I want to spend as much quality time with my husband. I don't want us to argue over money and not having enough of it because it's not important. When we have kids I want us to both be able to spend loads of time raising them and not be working every hour.
So that's the end of my cheesy display of why this is important! I'd love to see you guy's pictures but I can't seem to find a way of you being able to upload them here, but if you have a blog or any links where you can send me to have a look I would LOVE TO so make sure you leave your comments.
